Following the arrival of the 45th IAEA mission team, a rotation of experts from the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) took place at the South Ukraine NPP. The new team of specialists replaced their colleagues, who had worked at the site for three weeks.
"We accomplished everything we had planned during our stay. This was possible thanks to a well-planned schedule and the openness of the enterprise. Our team had the opportunity to meet with industry's finest and visit various facilities at the South Ukraine NPP. I am pleased to note that we did not find any safety or security issues at the enterprise," summarized the head of the 44th rotation team of the IAEA mission.
Successors will keep monitoring nuclear and radiation safety at the South Ukraine NPP amid russian aggression. According to the head of the 45th mission, the presence of international experts at Ukrainian nuclear power plants serves as a bridge between the NPPs and the IAEA.
"Unfortunately, the war is ongoing and, accordingly, the IAEA continues its missions at Ukrainian NPPs. Both Ukrainian and international experts recognize that the presence of experts at nuclear power plants is a crucial factor in ensuring the safety of nuclear facilities during martial law. The teams work according to the schedule. Every morning, we provide them with information on the technical condition of the power units and safety, and the experts forward it to the IAEA headquarters," said Boris Mikitkov, SUNPP Deputy Chief Engineer for Life Extension, Technology, and Engineering.
Specialists at the South Ukraine NPP expressed their sincere gratitude to representatives of the International Atomic Energy Agency for their cooperation and willingness to work in conditions of constant danger from the russian aggressor.
