Level of radiation safety of Ukrainian NPP in 2005 Operation of nuclear power plants in Ukraine is made according to Laws “About using nuclear power and radiation safety”, “About human protection from ionization radiation”, Norms of radiation safety of Ukraine (NRSU-97) and others. The main aim of acting legislation is to determine basis requirements to health care from possible harm that connected with radiation, requirement to safety operation of NPP and also to environment protection.
According to that acting nuclear power plant satisfies safety demands when its radiation influence does not exceed stated norm of radiation exposure of the personnel of the NPP and population and also gas and aerosol emissions and liquid wastes on content of radioactive substances in environment.
Normalization of NPP’s influence on the environment is made by the levels of exposures and spews of radioactive instances in environment.
Their inflows in environment are shown in percentage ratio according to permissible levels that are worked at the every NPP and negotiated with Ministry of health of Ukraine. I n common, radiation parameters that characterized work of NPP in 2004 and 2005 did not exceed normative rate and radiation safety of the personnel and population was at the adequate level. For the last years operation of NPP did not make any ecological changes.
